How I got into freelance service

I worked at Enkel for six years as the Director of Parts, Service, and Training. I managed ten to fifteen traveling technicians, a parts man, and an employee trainer. When I resigned my management position in 1994, I agreed to stay on as an independent field service technician for about six months to help with the transition.

Afterward, Enkel continued to offer service work while my customer base grew. I work under my own name now, McAlpine Technical Services LLC, and I have continued as an independent technician after MEGTEC bought Enkel in 2001. For over 15 years, I have done installation, start-up, training and service on Enkel and other press equipment.
